The next time that you begin to plan a getaway, take the time to ask yourself if you would like to take a vacation that allows you solitude from the rat race of everyday living. If you are headed to the Sunshine State of Florida, the answer just may lie in an area in the panhandle, somewhere like Fort Walton Beach.
When you choose to spend you vacation in Florida, one of the first things on your to do list is to head to the beach. Here you will be exposed to 24 miles of beautiful, gleaming, soft beaches that are sculpted from Appalachian quartz. The sand here is known for being so soft that people often find themselves in a relaxing trance as they walk along the beach, with the sun beaming down on their shoulders and the cool waves breaking just feet from where they are walking. As you wander the coastline, you'll find miles of beautiful seashells and turquoise water and if you simply can't resist the urge to go diving or snorkeling, you'll discover even more shells, along with some of the most breathtakingly beautiful and vibrant sea life, such as basket sponges, seawhips, and colorful coral reefs.
Fishing is a another popular way to pass the time when on vacation in Fort Walton Beach. Take advantage of this by taking a charter boat from Olin Marler's Charter Fishing and Dolphin Cruises. This deep-sea charter fishing company is located on the Emerald Coast and they invite you aboard to fish in the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico. You're sure to catch impressive fish that you'll tell your grandchildren about one day on this experienced charter. Olin Marler Cruise also offers a two-hour dolphin cruise that will start off in Destin Harbor and back into the bay. If you can't get enough of sea life and creatures of the deep, take a trip to Florida's Gulfarium and watch penguins in outdoor shows at one of the oldest aquariums in America.
For the history buffs in your group, come visit the Indian Temple Mound and Museum. There you'll learn about four Southeastern American Indian tribes that date back almost 10,000 years. You'll see countless ancient artifacts that tell the story of these men and women who once roamed this land. For the military men and women and civilian fans alike, take a look at some retired military aircrafts at the Air Force Armament Museum. You'll view some great historical planes here, such as a B-17 WWII Bomber and an F-111, along with a wide variety of classic bombs and missiles.
After touring the sites, you're probably going to be hungry for something more than knowledge. Stop by Pandora's Restaurant and Lounge for a juicy steak or maybe an Italian dish at Pranzo's. Whatever it is that your taste buds are craving, you'll be sure to find it here with such a variety of restaurants.
When dinner's done and you're ready for an exciting night out on the town, head for Howl at the Moon. This is a fun, lively spot that features a dueling piano bar where the pianists lead the music and the evening. Guests sing along, and each group attempts to out-perform the other. If it gets too hectic inside, head to the outdoor deck, which offers great views of the beach - it's an ideal place to cool off and enjoy a perfect evening. Other hot spots may include Picolo's Restaurant and the Red Bar, and the Ocean Club.
Museums, beaches, shopping, golf, and more - There is so much fun to be had by all when you vacation here. For a memorable, eventful, and sun-filled adventure that offers a little something for everyone in your group, pack your bags and head to the Florida panhandle. More specifically, set the navigation for Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.
